Can I just say how much I love the fact Team TARDIS all came to the decision to travel with the Doctor individually and without her influence? That there was no tempting them with the stars, no ‘one more trip’?
And she didn’t promise them they’d be safe. In fact she made sure they understood that she couldn’t guarantee it an that she needed them to be sure.
The Doctor has grown so much. And I’m so proud of her.
But it’s also kinda heartbreaking, because we know what finally taught the Doctor that lesson. They lost so many people during their adventures through time.
In fact everyone who’s ever traveled with the Doctor in their past few regenerations has ended up being hurt in so many terrible ways because they traveled with the Doctor. And their past four companions all died.
She can’t guarantee Ryan, Yaz and Graham’s safety. And that has always been true. But this is the first time I’ve seen the Doctor really facing up to it.
